Every year for 108 years, men from the Burtrum Community dug a pit in early October filled it with maple firewood and lit the fire. Once the firewood had burned down to coals, two huge, covered pots full of beans were lowered into the pit and the pit back-filled. Twenty-four hours later...It's Burtrum Beanbake time.
