From the north, from the south, from the east, from the west over 450 people traveled to Swanville, Minnesota for the 3rd All-School Reunion held July 1 - .4. A continental breakfast gave the early arrivals a boost Saturday morning as they ventured out after registration to the sights and sounds of Swanville. By evening, well over 400 people gathered together in the Swanville School gym for the Alumni Dinner with Lowell Drager as Master of Ceremonies.
After the roast beef and turkey dinner, Recognition Awards were given out along with door prizes. The Alumni Choir led by Allan (Corky) Cornell, who served as the music director at Swanville for 38 years, sang a colorful variety of songs followed by a stirring rendition of the school song, complete with cheerleaders. A dance at the City Park folowed the dinner.
Other activities for the long weekend included a variety show Sunday afternoon and a parade and family picnic in the park on the 4th of July. Of course, the favorite activity of all was meeting old friends and talking about what was, what is and what will be.
